COURSE DESCRIPITON: The late Judge Todd A. Hoover established the Pro Bono Guardianship program in conjunction with the Dauphin County Bar Association to provide a way for the court to fulfill its oversight obligation for guardianships. This program provides a unique way for an attorney to fulfill their pro bono obligation. The monitor does not serve in the role of an attorney but visits with the incapacitated person and guardian at least once a year and submits a report to the Court. The reports alert the Court to any potential issues and it provides the guardian with a contact as they undertake the responsibility of making personal and financial decisions for the incapacitated person. The CLE will introduce attendees to the program and hopefully encourage more members of the bar to fulfill their pro bono obligations in this unique way.
