MEMBER BENEFIT CLE - DCBA Members may receive 12 free credits in any given CALENDAR year by participating in these seminars. However, in order to receive your FREE credits, your 2021 dues MUST BE PAID. If your dues are not paid, this cost is $25 per each 1 hour session; Attorney non-members is $35 per session; Paralegals are $25 per session and Students are $10 per session.
To assist our members in meeting the PACLE requirements, our Continuing Legal Education Committee has scheduled courses toward the end of each compliance due date. Each course will consist of a (1) one hour segment. You may enroll for as many hours as you choose. These courses will be held virtually through Zoom on August 17, 18 & 19, 2021.
COURSE DESCRIPTION: This program encourages attorneys to consider their role as a risk manager in their work. The presenters will share information on a variety of issues that have been identified as common areas where attorneys can be exposed to liability or malpractice claims and focuses on steps we can all take to avoid or minimize our exposures. If a claim is asserted, we will also discuss steps you can take to help mitigate the claim. The presenters will address some of the scenarios attorneys may encounter in their daily practice, as well as shifts and changes we see in the profession and in client needs, as we move forward in the post-COVID environment. Engagement letters, remote work, cloud computing and cybersecurity are among the chief topics. Attend and get tips on steps you can take to manage your risks and be prepared if a claim is asserted against you or your firm.
In addition, attorneys who are insured through the Pennsylvania Bar Association Insurance Program, advised and administered by USI Affinity, have the ability to earn up to a 7.5% discount on their malpractice insurance. The 7.5% credit will be pro-rated based on the number of attorneys in the firm who attend the seminar. The discount does not apply to part-time policies.
